Seven couples went toe-to-toe on the dance floor at the Dothan Civic Center. The competition is a fundraiser for The Prevention Project. Competing dancers say they are honored to help raise funds for such a worthy cause.

“I decided to dance again this year cause it’s such a great cause," said Wayne Adkison, pro dancer who will compete for a third year. "I’m a school resource officer, and they come in our schools. It’s just a way to help them keep doing the service they offer to our schools.”

This year's event raised over $54,000 for the partnership. "We will be able to get updated curriculum and training. This is vital when speaking to our youth. They need the most up-to-date information so they can make smart and safe decisions when it comes to alcohol and drug use," states Beth Ford, program manager and DWTS Chairperson.

This year's winners were Peter Covert, of Oncology Supply, and returning professional Sonya Philippona. Peter and SOnya also won Sponsorship and People's Choice awards. Terri June Granger, of Synergy, and professional Ron Devane took home Judge's Choice.
